'I first began working with Nicola some seven or eight years ago. As a children’s writer, I wanted an illustrator who could interpret my characters and bring them to life. I was not to be disappointed. Nicola has worked on five of my books to date, illustrating the covers and content. What I particularly like about Nicola is the way she can take basic instructions and transform them into something magical. She does not simply reproduce what you show her, although she can easily do that if that is your wish. I like the way she thinks outside the box.
For example, Nicola created a map of an imaginary sci-fi world. Which was brilliant for the book but did not look quite right on my new website as the website page already had a space background. Her solution was to change the shape and create a see-through version, which simply looks stunning.
What I find exciting is to see my characters come to life and have a personality that Nicola captures perfectly. They almost speak to you. If you want a first-class illustrator, who does not overcharge and delivers on time, then I would not hesitate to recommend Nicola.'
